Marl Currents
Sterling silver embraces a rectangular piece of Kentucky Agate whose many shadesof gray move across the stone in delicate, undulating layers. The patterns feel at oncegeological and fluid—as though currents have been captured and held within the stone.
I begin with the stone, contemplating its individual characteristics and allowing itsnatural movement to guide the design. The silver band continues that movement, flowing outward and curling into sculptural forms on either side of the ring. Ratherthan simply supporting the stone, the band becomes part of the composition, echoing the winding lines within the agate.
The substantial geometric form of the stone contrasts with the fluidity of the hand-formed silver, creating a conversation between structure and movement. Fromdifferent angles, the relationship between the stone and silver shifts, revealing new details in both.
Marl Currents explores movement within a quiet, layered palette—the flowing patterns of Kentucky Agate reflected in the curves and gestures of the silver.
