Crimson Ribbon
A translucent piece of Kentucky Agate holds a slender red ribbon that flows through the center of this long oval stone, creating the feeling of movement suspended within the material. At just under an inch, the stone has a delicate presence, giving the finished ring an unexpectedly light feel.
The silver band is formed as a graceful double wrap around the finger. On one side, the two ends curl outward into small spiral forms, adding a sense of playfulness and movement to the structure. Rather than competing with the stone, the silver seems to dance around it, echoing the flowing red line within the agate.
As with my other rings, the stone is the starting point for the design. I consider its particular character and allow that character to lead the making of the setting and the band. Here, the translucent agate and its vivid red inclusion called for a design that would remain open and airy.
Crimson Ribbon is a study in delicacy and movement—a small landscape of Kentucky Agate carried lightly on the hand.
