Ember Pool
Kentucky agate set in sterling silver. One of a kind. Designed and handcrafted by Rachel Savané at Savané Silver, her working studio and gallery in downtown Lexington, Kentucky.
Ember Pool is built around an exceptionally lush Kentucky agate, with a depth and translucence that make its colors appear almost liquid. Butterscotch and warm honey seem to rise from within the stone, meeting a rich pool of deep red at the edge—the glowing ember that gives the piece its name.
The generous oval stone is held in a clean sterling silver setting that allows the agate itself to command attention. Beneath it, I formed the silver band by hand and then rolled it flat, creating a broad, sculptural shape that feels substantial yet remarkably comfortable on the finger. The sweep of the band extends beyond the stone in places, adding movement and asymmetry to the design.
What makes this Kentucky agate particularly compelling is the way light enters it. Its golden areas have an almost watery depth, while the saturated red seems to hover within the stone. As the ring moves on the hand, light reveals subtle shifts in color and translucence, making Ember Pool a piece that continually invites a closer look.
