Torque

"I have seen torque bracelet designs as a traditional style of bracelet in many cultures around the world. I present my own styles on the theme."

--Rachel Savané

"Torque: to twist or turn"

Celtic and Viking cultures twisted strands of metal together and then in an open circle with the ends fashioned into a design to be comfortable to put on and take off. Worn around the neck or arm or wrist, the torque design shows up in many cultures across the world.

African torque bracelets caught my attention during the two and a half years I spent in Guinea as a Peace Corps volunteer in the early 1990s. I now make my own version of the style.
